Leo du Feu

Leo du Feu, painter and art tutor

Leo du Feu

Leo was born in Edinburgh in 1984 and lived his life in nearby Linlithgow before moving to Burntisland on the Fife coast in 2014. Since graduating from Edinburgh College of Art Drawing & Painting in 2006, Leo has been a full-time professional artist and art tutor, exhibiting around Scotland and the UK.

Leo's inspiration is the natural world. He takes every opportunity to explore on foot, by bike, by train, sketching and painting in the landscape and using material gathered to complete other works back in the studio. Leo is a keen environmental campaigner and undertakes bird counts for the British Trust for Ornithology (BTO), and other voluntary conservation activities. He's rather obsessed with birds, they appear in his work often.

Leo's ongoing project to explore Scotland's rail-accessible landscapes is supported by ScotRail. Leo keeps a blog about his Scotland By Rail travels and his second book - Landscapes & Birds of Scotland, an Artist's View - features many of these locations.

If you're interested in finding out about Leo's exhibitions and other art news please send your email address through the Contact page of this website and please keep an eye on Leo's Artist Facebook & Twitter accounts.
